Sarah Nicole Cress is currently in her fourth year of teaching photography at Streamwood High School in Streamwood, Illinois. Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in photography, her bachelor’s degree in art education and her master’s degree in art education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. Although Cress’ passion in the arts derives from her photography, she also enjoys various other media. This appreciation for variation is what encourages Cress’ integration of numerous types of artistic experiences in her classroom environment.

While not in the classroom, Cress enjoys spending her time working on independent photography projects of her own and writing. Look for Cress' book entitled "Artist Postcards: Creating and Communicating Through the Arts" featuring various Streamwood student work.

Mrs. Erin Vance

Erin Vance is currently in her fourth year of teaching Art.  This is her third year at Streamwood High School.  Erin received her BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2006.  Vance is currently working towards her Masters degree in education at Northern Illinois University.  Erin currently teaches Discovery Photography, Cartooning & Animation, and Jewelry, but has taught drawing and painting classes in the years past.

After school, Vance is the Head Coach of the Streamwood Cheerleaders.  The 07-08 team qualified for the IHSA State Championship for the first time in the school’s history.  Erin hopes for another successful season this year.  Outside of school, Vance enjoys photographing her travels and freelancing graphic design logos and artwork.  Most of all, Erin loves to spend time at home with her husband and cairn terrier.

Nicole Hummel is currently in her fourth year of teaching Art in District U-46. This is her third year teaching at Streamwood High School. Nicole graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 2006 with a BFA in Art Education. Nicole teaches a wide variety of classes including various levels of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, and enjoys the variety during her day.

Nicole’s passion is oil painting, which she has done from a very young age. She has always known she wanted to be an Art teacher, and loves teaching at Streamwood.  When not at school, Nicole likes to work on her personal artwork, read, and spend time hiking with her husband and dogs.

I have been teaching at Streamwood High School for 20 years in the Art Department. I have taught all levels of Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, including the Discovery Ceramics/ Sculpture, and Discovering Drawing/ Painting, plus Cartoon/ Animation Classes. I was one of the teachers to start the Discovery classes and it's curriculum and also the originator of the Cartoon/ Animation classes all due to student needs. I am very involved with the school itself and with how it serves the students. I serve on several committees and have served on many more. Currently I am on School Department and School Improvement Team. I was on Freshman team since it's origins, have served on three Principal Interview teams, and was on one bargaining team. The need was there for an Art Club so I originated that and have been working with students after school for many years. Through Art club, many students have gone to Rembrandt Society (which is a state wide art convention/ show) and have won state wide awards for their art work. Our Art Department is usually involved in 8-9 art shows during the year and hope to continue this for our students.
