Photography Student of the Month

Each month, the photography department recognizes a student from each level that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. A Photography Student of the Month is an individual who is hardworking, takes tremendous pride in their work, helps others seek their own success in the darkroom, and continuously strives for their own self improvement.

Be sure to take a look at our website regularly to see who becomes this month's Photography Student of the Month!

November 2009 Students of the Month:

Photography 1-2: Mariah Thomas
Mariah Thomas is currently in her second year of photography. As a Discovery student, Mariah demonstrated her extreme passion for photography through her wonderful explorations within the craft. Currently as a Photography 1-2 student, Mariah has fallen in love with the added challenges presented as an advanced student. Mariah thoroughly enjoys the technical side of photography and prides herself in her demonstration of perfection. Mariah spends many days after school to further her artistic development. She is one of the most dedicated students the photography program has known.

Photography 3-4: Megan Craig
Megan Craig is currently in her second year of photography as an advanced 3-4 student. Megan was born an artist. She loves the creation process so much, she can’t get enough of it! Many times you can find Megan working in the darkroom during her lunch, her study hall and even after school. Megan prides herself in her tremendous work ethic, and always being one step ahead of her peers. It is because of the fact that Megan usually completes all of her assignments ahead of schedule that she has become a wonderful peer leader. She is regularly helping others with their darkroom technique. Megan is an absolute pleasure to have in class.

Photography 5-6: Ryan Hamlin
Ryan Hamlin is currently completing his fourth year of photography as an advanced 5-6 student. Ryan is a creative and innovative artist who is continuously looking for ways to grow within his craft. In addition to being an accomplished athlete in golf, Ryan manages to devote a significant amount of time on his photography. Recently, Ryan’s work has been focused on stereotypes and the hidden messages people send one another through dress and poise. Ryan isn’t afraid to challenge his viewers to think outside of the box. This is what makes Ryan an inspiring and interesting artist.

October 2009 Students of the Month:

Photography 1-2: Candice Feliciano

Candice Feliciano is currently in her second year of photography. As a Discovery student, Candice demonstrated her extreme passion for photography through her wonderful explorations within the craft. Now, currently a Photography 1-2 student, Candice serves as a wonderful role model to her peers through her enthusiasm and constant strive for artistic perfection. Candice goes above a beyond, and challenges herself with each roll of film through exploration of new and innovative subject matter and techniques. Candice is a pleasure to have in class, and has a bright future in the field of photography ahead of her.

Photography 3-4: Eli Groves

Eli Groves is currently in his second year of photography as an advanced 3-4 student. Eli has an impeccable eye for detail and is constantly producing work that would merit entry into many of today’s contemporary galleries. Eli prides himself in creating imagery that is unique and invites viewers in to really observe and analyze. In addition to being a pristine and dedicated artist, Eli is a fantastic writer. Eli’s reflections of others’ productions are thoughtful, innovative and poetic. Eli’s abilities make him a wonderful role model to his peers.

Photography 5-6: Stephanie Latendresse
