Photography Classroom Behavior and Darkroom Rules:

General rules to remember at all times…

  1. Always show responsibility for yourself and your own actions.
  2. Respect your teacher, classmates, facilities, and materials.
  3. No throwing, swearing or socializing.
  4. Be in your seat at the beginning and the end of each class.
  5. Bring all required materials with you to class.
  6. Do not bring food or beverages into the classroom or darkroom areas. We use chemicals and you can get very sick from digesting them.
  7. No personal radios, iPods, MP3 players or CD players. When students are working quietly, the teacher will play music.
  8. All other rules in the student handbook also apply.

Working in the photography darkroom and shooting film around the school are special privileges given to photography students. Do not abuse these privileges, as they can be taken away under certain circumstances. Privileges depend upon each and every photo student in the class. When conducting on-sight and off-sight shoots the following additional rules apply:

  1. Respect other teachers and their classrooms.
  2. Keep noise to a minimum.
  3. In order to leave the photo classroom and darkroom you must have permission and a pass from the teacher. You or someone in your group must also have a camera.
  4. Photography students must stay out of the cafeteria and adjacent halls during lunch hours.

The following will not be tolerated…

  1. Non-photo students present in the photography classroom or darkroom.
  2. Food or drinks of any kind in the classroom or darkroom.
  3. Pushing, bumping or any other intentional contact in the darkroom.
  4. Throwing of objects.
  5. Using another student’s paper, negatives, enlarger or accessories without permission.
  6. Splashing or spraying water or any other liquid chemicals. (Improper use of photographic chemicals can result in skin irritation, eye irritation or side effects from adverse long-term exposure. Always wash your hands after using chemistry.)
  7. Improper use of cameras or other photographic equipment. (Any damage done to photographic equipment will be the responsibility of the students at fault.)
