Are you intrigued by the darkroom and the traditional way of making photographs? Are you interested in making fantastic images? If you said yes to any of these questions, Photography may be the class for you! In all levels of Photography, our students experiment with a variety of traditional and contemporary media. Students work with film cameras, digital cameras, computer programs that enhance their imagery, and an assortment of other photographic equipment. Take Photography 1-2 and you can begin your photographic adventure next year! Once you take Photography 1-2, you can continue taking year long, studio-based courses within this exciting field. Photography Students of the Month Each month, the photography department recognizes a student from each level that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. A Photography Student of the Month is an individual who is hardworking, takes tremendous pride in their work, helps others seek their own success in the darkroom, and continuously strives for their own self improvement. November 2009 Students of the Month: Photography 1-2: Mariah Thomas Photography 3-4: Megan Craig Photography 5-6: Ryan Hamlin October 2009 Students of the Month: Photography 1-2: Candice Feliciano Candice Feliciano is currently in her second year of photography. As a Discovery student, Candice demonstrated her extreme passion for photography through her wonderful explorations within the craft. Now, currently a Photography 1-2 student, Candice serves as a wonderful role model to her peers through her enthusiasm and constant strive for artistic perfection. Candice goes above a beyond, and challenges herself with each roll of film through exploration of new and innovative subject matter and techniques. Candice is a pleasure to have in class, and has a bright future in the field of photography ahead of her. Photography 3-4: Eli Groves Eli Groves is currently in his second year of photography as an advanced 3-4 student. Eli has an impeccable eye for detail and is constantly producing work that would merit entry into many of today’s contemporary galleries. Eli prides himself in creating imagery that is unique and invites viewers in to really observe and analyze. In addition to being a pristine and dedicated artist, Eli is a fantastic writer. Eli’s reflections of others’ productions are thoughtful, innovative and poetic. Eli’s abilities make him a wonderful role model to his peers. Photography 5-6: Stephanie Latendresse Stephanie is currently completing her fourth year of photography as an advanced 5-6 student. Stephanie is one of the most dedicated students to ever be enrolled in the photography program. Stephanie takes her work extremely seriously and accepts nothing less than perfection. Stephanie has been featured in a variety of art exhibitions and is also the student leader of photography club. Stephanie’s go-to attitude and constant strive for excellence make her a key figure in the photography program today. She will be greatly missed upon graduation this spring. September 2009 Students of the Month: Photography 1-2: Benjamin Lazar Benjamin…also known as BJ...is an amazingly dedicated and enthusiastic photography student. BJ enters the photography classroom with a huge smile everyday. His passion for photography and optimistic personality is contagious. It is because of BJ’s warmth and curious nature that others around him naturally have fun with photography and want to create strong imagery. BJ recently visited the Henry Ford Museum where he was able to view displays on the history of photography. BJ loves to share these experiences and more with his teacher and peers. Photography 3-4: Angela McKernan This is Angela’s second year in photography and she has proven herself as a professional in the making. Angela is one of the hardest working students among her level, always ahead of the game and always going above and beyond expectations. Angela prides herself in her dedication and work ethic. Many times you can find Angela in the darkroom before and after school and during free periods. She just can’t get enough! The future is extremely bright for this young lady! Photography 5-6: Olivia Ottinger This is Olivia’s third year in photography and she has become an expert printer! Olivia’s black and white images are beautiful because of the time and patience she lends in the darkroom. Olivia is hardworking, reflective and creative…all attributes that contribute to her gorgeous imagery. Upon graduation, Olivia hopes to pursue a career within the arts. Expectations are set high for this young lady and she will still surpass them, guaranteed.
